TALK PALACE is a home for the professional work of Kirby Brown (that’s me). In addition to many other things, I am a writer and editor of marketing copy, bios, press releases, and other odds and ends. I’m currently based between Brooklyn, Nashville, and wherever I woke up today.
A little about me
I was born in Deep East Texas and raised in the Ozark foothills of Arkansas. Since then, I have run an orbit between New York City, Nashville, Texas, and the remotest ends of the American highway system (as a recording artist and touring musician).
When I was ten years old, my father stuck a Norton Anthology of Poetry in my hands. I have been curious, interested in, and maybe a little obsessed with the written word since then.
Having looked at language through both the commercial and the creative lens, I remain in awe of its power and how we use it—its ever-evolving ability to captivate, to motivate, and to transform.
My experience
In addition to countless artist bios and odds-and-ends of freelance writing, I most recently held a full-time position at imogene + willie, a Nashville-based apparel brand focused on American-made denim. I worked there for almost four years in a myriad of both business and creative roles. My last two years were spent reporting directly to the Creative Director and the CEO, where I developed, wrote, and edited copy for marketing campaigns, press releases product descriptions, and a quarterly internal company newsletter.
